Dec. 11th: It was a Saturday and my phone rang, it was a local number and I just knew that it was someone from the ward wanting us to do something for Sunday, I told Josh that and he was like no just answer it...so I did....
"Sister Johnstun this is Bro. Bradley, how are you?" Me: "good and you?"
Bro. Bradley: "good, I have a favor, are you willing to speak in church tomorrow?"
Me: "sure, as long as it doesn't have to be very long"
Bro. Bradley: "how is 5-10 minutes and the topic is Jesus Christ"
Me: "okay sounds good"
Josh: "you have to speak, thats awesome"
And Josh continued to taunt me for the rest of the night. He thought it was so funny.
So needless to say I spent that night trying to prepare some sort of talk and luckily I had a book for Christmas that I received from my Aunt Deb years ago called 'I Believe in Santa Claus' and I was able to use that for my talk.... if you haven't read that book I highly suggest you getting it, it is a simple Christmas book that really helps remind you of all the symbols of Christmas that are around us.
Sunday: I was ready for my talk I won't share the whole thing but will share my introduction, it went something like this.
I had shared with the congregation about my hesitation to answer the phone and repeated the conversation Josh and I had about whether to answer or not, I then shared with everyone how Josh had made fun and thought it was very funny that I needed to speak but he didn't have to.
I then turned to the Bishopric and suggested to them that Josh speak very soon in sacrament.
(Josh will call it throwing him under the bus but I didn't think of that way :) )
Not five minutes after sacrament you can believe that Bro. Bradley asked Josh to speak the Sunday after Christmas, which is even greater because Josh's entire family would be there to witness it.
Dec. 26th: Josh had his talk prepared and ready to go, I knew what it was about some what but not entirely....his introduction went a little like this.......
Josh: " I hope you all had a great Christmas with your families, I always hear how you should start your talks with a joke to loosen everyone up, I have a perfect one, 'what does one snowman say to the other snowman, do you smell carrots?'"
Well I will tell you what for how cheesy that was everyone was cracking up, the kids loved it!!!
Josh: " Now I am not sure how many of you were here a few weeks ago to witness my very own wife throw me under the bus..."( i had a feeling this was coming, everyone started laughing).
Josh:" but I decided to be the bigger person and let it slide...however I am not sure how many of you know this but Ashlee has the most amazing voice. She does, and she will deny it till the end."
Everyone was cracking up, I was laughing so hard I was crying. He continued to say how I love to sing solos and if everyone is persistant enough with me I will do it, and that I even did singing telegrams.
It was hilarious. Everyone was laughing so hard, I couldn't believe that he did that. I have yet had someone ask me to sing but I did hear that some people were like oh really i didn't know she sang....
Pretty funny. The rest of his talk was wonderful and he also spoke about Jesus Christ.
I am so grateful for such a wonderful husband. Josh is so fun and he really knows how to make me laugh. He still suprises me after all this time. I love you babe!
