What we've been doing

I have not been keeping updates on Tate's life, and well I need to do better at it cause this is like a journal for me. But between feedings every three hours, and being tired and trying to get things done when he sleeps, there just isn't always enough time but, I am getting back energy and more on a schedule. Here are some pictures of whats been going on:
Tate's first bath, a complete success! He loves them. Is so chill the whole time and pretty much sleeps through it, he loves soaking in the water.
I just love this picture, he is so cute!

Tate had his first play date with Libby and Berlyn. Devyn, Eva and I went to our favorite, red robin. It was pretty funny to see us all with our carriers. (Angie we missed u and Sophie.)

My favorite newborn outfit, I love it! and the yawn is what he loves to do. Waking him up is such a chore. He will yawn stretch make some funny faces then repeat, for about 5 minutes, it is the funniest thing ever.

Here is my little guy on Father's Day. Josh's first official one and I didn't even make him breakfast. I was a little tired and well promised next year I would make it more special for him. Josh is a great Dad already and we love him so much!

Week One

We survived the first week on being parents and having Tate home. He is doing so good! He finally is eating well and he has even gained back 6 ounces, almost back to his birth weight. I was always told how much love you will have for your child but this is unreal. We can just watch him all day and not get sick of it, no matter how many times he pee's on us or even poop's on us. I can't even count how many times that has happened and its only been a week, I am sure there will be many more times! Josh is a big help which is really nice, he even is doing a nightly feeding with the bottle for me! So nice!!! I have pictures but not sure where my camera is so I will post them later!

TATE KEVEN JOHNSTUN JUNE 11, 2009

At my last doctors appointment I was told that I could be induced on Thursday if I wanted.
So Here are some pictures of our exciting adventure:

Josh and I wanted one last date before our little boy arrived. So here we are after we just ate at Texas Roadhouse, I kept calling it "The Last Supper" After our delicious dinner, we went to Josh's parents house so I could get a blessing from Josh and his Dad.

Here I am at the hospital just got checked in, we had to be there at 10pm. We got to McKayDee and they had my room all ready for us, which was way nice. I was only dialated to a 2 so they had to start me on a medicine that is supposed to help my cervix ripen. I had to get two doses of that and finally at 6am I was a 3 and ready for the Pitocin. After that I was having some contractions but nothing too painful. My doctor came in to see me a little before 9am, broke my water, which is the grosest thing ever! I almost threw up. Well after that the fun started. My contractions were right on top of each other and I thought I was going to DIE! I even hurt Josh's hand I would squeeze it so hard (I was pretty proud that I could hurt him). I had to wait a little over an hour for the epidural because the anethisiolagist was so busy. Finally got that about 10am and after that I was felling great!!!

Here I am with my oxygen. A little after 1pm Josh and his parents headed down stairs to get some lunch, while he was gone the nurse said they needed to perk up the baby, my contractions were still on top of each other, and they wanted them to be 2-3 minutes apart and stronger, so Tate would perk up! It made my nose itch so so bad!

At 130pm my nurse checked me and I was dialated fully and ready but the baby was not as low as they wanted so my doctor told them to just let me sit and he would come at 230, at 230 my nurse had me push to see what would happen and he was ready! Dr. Marriott came at 250pmI and I started pushing. Talk about exhausting! I pushed and pushed and at 332pm my sweet baby boy arrived! It was the most amazing thing! Josh was the only one in the room and he got to hold my leg. He did so great!

Kendra and the kids came later that day to see us. The girls were so cute and drew us pictures we could hang in our room.

Weighing in at 6 lbs 11 oz and 19 1/2 inches long: Look at all that hair! I couldn't believe it! He has Josh's ears and my nose. My Mom says he looks just like me when I was born except I didn't have hair.

Sunday Dinner at Grandma and Grandpa Johnstun's house. Davinna Josh loves the camo blanket.

Being a Mom is amazing, I can't even believe how much I am in love with him. I think he is perfect! He is so beautiful and has the sweetest little cry and smell. And Josh has been so great, he helps so much. I am so grateful for him and love that he is so involved.

Edema

Well here are the most beautiful feet in the world! Ha just kidding, oh my I never thought that I would have such enourmous feet and ankles and well legs. I went to the doctor Tues 26th and my blood pressure was high and had protein in the urine, so I am back on bedrest. But luckily my blood work came back as being normal, so no toxemia, just high blood pressure. I had gained 5 pounds in week and the doctor was a little worried. So I went back on Wednesday, still high blood pressure, but they did an NST for the baby and he is doing just fine, which is good. Went back yesterday and blood pressure still up but I did lose 1.5 pounds, which is good. I am chugging water and staying down but its the pits cause I really don't think Tate is going to come.
He is perfectly content hanging out where he is.

I miss my ankles, I never thought I would miss them so much!

The Baby's Room

We finally have the nursery done, well for the most part. All's I need to get is the curtain valance but other than that it looks so good! Josh did such a great job. The painting was all him and the idea. I just took care of the rest. Enjoy our pictures:

Starting to paintJosh is eventually going to put sports balls in the squares, we just haven't found what we are looking for yet.

Here is my project; we had two of these dressers and I decided oh I will just stain it to match the crib, a lot bigger job than I thought but I am very pleased with how it turned out.

The crib
The dresser I did, with the help of my Mom and Josh

We still need to hang some things on the wall and get a book shelf, I found one at target for only $20 so I think I am going to have Josh take me to get it today, along with a carseat and stroller. AFter that I think we are ready, I just wish this kid would decide to get here.

KicK

I just am laying here on the bed...hmm imagine that...and I am on the computer....big surprise... But I just had to post, Tate is kicking so hard that my entire abdomen moves and I think it is so funny. Here I am just laying here and he is in there moving all around and kicking and punching! It's so special.
It's still wierd to me that he makes my whole body move and my shirt. That sounds kind of cheesy but I just think it's great!

The First Week of Bed Rest

I survived my first week of bedrest, and it wasn't too bad.... I had lots of visitors which was nice. And it was nice to get some rest too. I think the hardest part about it all is depending on others to get things done for me. It's hard because you feel like you can do anything but yet you get up walk around for a bit and well then your exhausted! My poor husband having to put up with me all week and well there is still at least more to go, but I am getting better and more patient with letting other people help me.
Visitors this week: Eva and Libby came and saw me on Tuesday and brought me some yummy cafe rio, Libby is such a cute baby! Then I had my Grandma come and spend Thursday with me and me, her and my Mom went through a box of photo albums that belonged to my Great Grandparents, it was so much fun to look at all the pictures from the 60's, 70's and 80's. Its nuts how different things are now. And then Becky from work brought me cafe rio again...love it...and everyone from work sent over a really nice gift basket filled with lots of fun things to do! Here are a few pictures!

This is a yummy cake that my Grandma made while she was here, she called it "better than Sex cake" its another version than what I have seen before, it has pineapple and cocunut on it. Way yummy!

My Mom and Grandma making dinner for us, it was yummy tacos!
Thanks again everyone from coming over!

Excitement

Yesterday I had another doctors appointment. And I am happy to report that all is well with the baby and myself! I was kind of worried because of the extrememly swollen feet but he said everything looks good and some people just have really bad swelling. He also said that I am very lucky cause I have had a great pregnancy so far! Which is awesome!
Last night Josh went with me to register at Target for our baby showers. (I already did babies r us with my Mom last week). Well I let Josh hold the scanner gun and by the time we were done we had almost 200 items on our registry. So good luck to those of you who look at the registry, its a little lengthy. :)
Josh kept saying we need to give people a variety to choose from. He wanted to conduct an experiment as well and he added some non baby items so we will have to see if anyone gets him those.
He is such a great husband and it was so fun to have him go with me last night! I think now that I am all belly we both are getting really excited and can't wait for Tate to get here!
Here is the invitation for the Johnstun Shower my inLaws are doing for us....

Week 23

Wow, I can't believe how far along I am! I haven't blogged for a while so I thought I would really quick.
I am doing great, getting really big! This week has been rough, and the last two days...can I say BACK PAIN! I know there are a lot of you out there with little ones growing inside, are any of you having this pain? Its so bad and yesterday and today I can barely walk. You should see me, its really funny looking. I go to the doctor Monday so maybe he can give me some insight as to what is wrong. But I am guessing its just part of being pregnant. I have heard some people say they get that lower back pain before they go into labor, but I am thinking thats not the case here. Way too early!
But upsides of pregnancy:
  • I am starting to feel him move lots and lots. No major kicks yet but I can definately feel him moving around. It feels so neat. Its nuts to think I have a little baby inside my body!
  • My hair is so healthy it almost drives me nuts because I am not used to having such soft hair. But I do love it. It is way shiny too! Like the Pantene comercials. :)
  • Josh is so sweet with me and making sure I am feeling alright. I think now that my belly is so big he is getting more and more excited. Whenever I refer to my big belly he always corrects me and says its not a big belly its a BABY!
  • I finally have some cute pregnancy clothes to wear thanks to My Grandma and Angie! You feel so much better when you have clothes that actually fit!
  • One thing that has started to happen....swollen feet. Probably not an upside but definately funny looking. Its only happend twice so I am drinking lots and lots of water!
  • Favorite desert....ice cream sandwhiches...I am loving them!

Well I know there are not any pictures but I will get some posted. I need to post about our fun Valentines Day as well.

20 weeks!

Here you go Jess, my belly! This is after my 2 mile walk last night, I am trying to build up to do that every night. So far its been every other, and I am actually really enjoying it. I have worked out some what this pregnancy but I have been wanting to do it more regularly, trying to get my legs ready for shorts and well to carry all this weight!
I had an ultra sound on Wednesday the 28th, it went really well and he is still a he. He looks so good and is very healthy she said. Its so neat to see their brain, heart, kidneys, spine. It was so special.

week 19

Well week 18 of the pregnancy has come and gone, I cannot believe how fast time flies. Some things I have been feeling is EMOTIONAL! This cracks me up, you would not believe the things I am getting upset over and I get very irritated. But I am hoping that came and went with week 18. This week I am feeling pretty good. I had the craziest dream Tuesday night.
I have been trying to feel the baby move and have been pretty upset that I haven't yet. So in my dream there was my Poppa, GG, Grandma and Josh's Mom. (my GG and Poppa have passed away). So I am laying down and they all are pushing on my stomach because the baby is moving like crazy and they want to feel it. It was so wierd. I woke up thinking WOW. That night before I went to bed I had been going through a lot of family pictures and there were tons of my GG and Poppa. So I am thinking maybe that had something to do with my dream. I miss them so much, not very many people have the opportunity to grow up with their Great Grandparents such a big part of their life.
Then yesterday morning I kept waking up (way too early), and I put my hand on my belly and I think I felt him kick, I don't know if I was imagining things or what but after that I was trying to get him to do it again and well, nothing. Of course.
This week also a new thing is I am feeling very domestic, alls I want to do it Sew, cook, bake, scrapbook, clean, organize. Its crazy! I have been working on a project and I needed to see if they had something at Walmart, so Josh and I went there and well they didn't have it. So I decided to wonder back to the fabric, just to gander, because I have no idea how to make anything out of anything. And they had the cutest fabric for a little blanket. So I bought some, Josh was laughing at me because when the lady asked how much I was like "I don't know" she asked what I was making "a baby blanket of some kind". I told her I didn't know what I was doing I just wanted to fabric. It was really funny.
Yesterday I cooked and baked and cleaned all day, and scrapbooked. It was so much fun to not be rushed and having to run around everywhere.
I am getting more and more excited every week about this baby. I think of all the fun things we are going to do and just wonder what he will look like. Will he inherit the Petroff dark hair and eyes, or the Tucker chubby cheeks. Will he look just like his Dad or his Mom or be a mixture of us both. Its crazy all the things that pop into your head.

Here is the fabric, it is so cute! It has dogs all over it and it will match perfect with about 5 onesies he got from my Grandma. I am going to make just a small recieving type blanket and then also a burp rag. I can't wait. It it so cute!!!

Baby Johnstun

As you all can see I posted a baby clock on our blog, so yes we are expecting a baby! I have told mostly everyone and figured it was time to start posting it on our blog!
We still don't know what it is yet but I go to the doctor tomorrow and hopefully he will be able to tell. (Yes I know its a little early). If he can't thats okay too, we will just have to wait until Jan. 26th, our next appointment.
I am in my 15th week and feeling good. I have actually had it pretty good. No throwing up or anything like that. Just naseau and waaaayy TIRED! I could sleep for days. But yet, at night I wake up at least 2-3 times.
I am getting big and need a belly picture I guess. I will post one as soon as I can.
