Free School Lunch?????

Okay maybe I don't know enough about these types of programs to vent like this but I am going to anyways. And maybe since I don't have school aged children I have no right to vent I am going to anyways.

Why do our elementary schools offer FREE school Lunch all summer long and one school does a breakfast. Why is this? I didn't think our schools had enough money to pay teachers better or for anything why would they offer free lunch, I am pretty sure the ones serving up the lunch are not there volunteering.
Hey I am all about offering school lunch during the summer but why not have it be .50cents or a $1.00.

I just would rather my tax dollars go to bettering kids education and offering more pay or highering more teachers. If anyone knows, please share but how is this funded??????

Summer lunch program begins



The Davis School District will participate in the Summer Food Service Program. Free lunch will be made available to attending children 18 years of age and under. Lunch will be served, Monday through Friday through August 5.
of the schools will serve lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with the exception of North Davis Jr. High, with lunch beginning at 11:15 a.m.
In addition, Doxey Elementary will offer a migrant breakfast from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., specifically serving children of migrant workers enrolled in the migrant program through July 14.
Lunch will not be served on the holidays July 4 and July 25.
