Oh Christmas Tree oh Christmas Tree....

This year we decided to go with Josh's sister Chelese and her husband Steve and his family to Soda Springs Idaho to hunt for a Real Christmas tree. They go every year and have invited us but we have never gone, this year we thought okay let's do it! It will be fun and we can start a new family tradition. So I packed almost every toy imaginable and we loaded up the truck and Friday the day after thanksgiving we headed out at 6am off to North Ogdent to meet up with everyone ( I had already been to Big 5 to get me some snow boots)....

It was a little over a two hour drive, we made it to Soda Springs, got some gas and then picked up our tree tag....930am on our way to the mountains....another hour.....
Heading up the mountain, we realize jeez there is a lot of snow this year, (more than usual from what everyone was telling us)...maybe Idaho had a big snow storm just like us....Well as we approach our first big hill covered in snow, guess what happens...a truck cant make it up. So we pause and all the men get out of the trucks ( there are 10 trucks and I think about 4 have trailers on them for the trees). So while Josh is out digging a guy out after he gets stuck Tate plays...another hour passes us by...
Dad's back now we are waiting and crossing our fingers every one makes it up the hill Josh really doesn't want to get back out to dig someone out.....
Yeah we made it up the hill and caught up with the rest of the party...only to find out two trucks coming down the mountain are stuck in our path to go up, so we decide this could take awhile (after sitting in the car for 30 minutes or so) so Tate and I put on our snow stuff and head out with Dad. Keep in mind it was only about 15 degrees outside so it was rough on Tate he wasn't a fan of the snow suit I think the coat was a little too big.
I tried everything to keep him entertained but he wanted nothing of it. So we visited with everyone for a while and got back in the truck when finally someone made a decision that we should finally turn around and go to a different spot to find a tree, there was no way we were getting to the spot we want. By this time it is about 2pm (usually they are on their way home by this point)....
Last and final stop...we stop at a spot with a HUGE hill for the christmas tree hunters to climb to get to the trees (why...I don't know..) so Tate and I had had about enough of the truck and so I thought I will pull him on the      sled while we look for a tree, well he wasn't a fan..by now it is about 330/4pm and it was getting pretty cold pretty fast so we jumped right back in the truck and Josh and Steve headed out to get some trees. Chelese and Ashton joined us in our truck and after about an hour everyone was back except Steve and Josh...we were getting worried and it was dark....so Steve's dad took the truck and off he went to get them.
Well he found them and they were on their way back but Josh was having a hard time carrying our tree... why well because I think he wanted a grizwald tree! It was Huge!!! Finally we are on our way home and when we get back to Soda Springs and I have service on my phone I had a voicemail from my Boss, he had called that morning to tell me he had tickets for the Jazz game that night for Josh and I and to top it off it was against the lakers and it was my Birthday and the tickets were in a suite. oh man were we sad!!!
Tate was really sad and VERY tired...he slept the whole way home and went straight to bed when we got home thank goodness. We ended up getting home about 10pm
And here she is...this was before we did any trimming
I don't have any of it after its decorated yet but it did turn out pretty good, but I think I still prefer my Tree lot trees, they are perfect in everyway :) But it was fun and Tate was really good and we made some fun memories.

Hope you had a great Christmas!

Way to be a trooper on such a long, cold trip to get a tree.
